Sue Ann Marie Jones, 88, of Piqua, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at the Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born December 31, 1936 in Versailles to the late Adrian and Margaret (Webb) Barga. Sue was preceded in death by three husbands, Seth “Bud” Cole, Harry House, and Richard “Dick” Jones.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Deb Cole; two grandchildren, Seth Cole and Brett Brumbaugh; three sisters, Rose Saintignon, Madonna (Robert) Foster, and Linda (Fred) Goewert; her caretaker over the last few years, her niece Lisa (John) Soakie and their children, Andrew, Skyler, and Sierra; her brother in law, Steve Mescher; also numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Cole; four siblings, James Paul Jacobi, Rita (Ray) Francis, Imogene (Darren) Baltes, and Mary Mescher; one brother in law, Bernard Saintignon; and her longtime significant other, Ronald Hawkey.
Sue was a longtime, faithful member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. She worked at Copeland in Sidney and retired after over 20 years of hard work and dedication. Sue loved to be social and used to be called a “party animal”, she loved to run around and visit with people and have a beer occasionally. Even in her 80s she still enjoyed being social, going with Lisa to quarter auctions and every family event she could attend. Sue loved all animals, but had a special place in her heart for all of her pet dogs over the years. Sue was always willing to help another, care for babies and children, and she was never cross with anyone and always was the purest of heart. Often called “Sweet Sue”, but the word sweet may not of been accurate enough to describe her. The family takes comfort in knowing that Sweet Sue was a shoe-in for Heaven in their minds. She will surely be missed by all who loved her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2025 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Eric Bowman as celebrant. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park.
