Billy L. Carter, 87, of Houston, more recently of Cincinnati, passed away at 8:34 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2025 at Brookwood Retirement Community in Cincinnati. He was born September 21, 1937 in Hardy, Kentucky to the late Tommy and Sadie (Patrick) Carter. He married Rita (Scott) Carter June 4, 1962 in Kentucky; and she preceded him in death January 22, 2020.
Survivors include a daughter, Nicole (Shane Craycraft) Breving of Lebanon; three grandchildren, Jordyn (Jon) Buckley-Banks, Lyndsey Filmer, Casey Filmer; two great grandchildren, Kameid Filmer, Latricia Filmer; and a brother, Gary Carter of Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Carter-Filmer; three brothers, Jim Carter, Donald Carter, Hershel Carter; and two sisters, Patricia Smith, and Pamela Moehling.
Mr. Carter had a longstanding affiliation with Piqua Freewill Baptist Church for many years. He owned and operated his own drywall finishing business from which he retired. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Additionally, he loved to watch sports of all kinds. Most importantly, he loved his family deeply and cherished the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
A service to honor his life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Dennie Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at Houston Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
