PIQUA – The Women’s Self-Defense program, Rape Aggression Defense (RAD), is being presented at YWCA Piqua by the Piqua Police Department, beginning Monday, Aug. 4.

The RAD system teaches women defense concepts and techniques against various types of assaults by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics. The system of realistic defense will provide a woman with the knowledge to make and educated decision about resistance.

The two-week program, taught by Piqua Police officers, spans over four class sessions at the YWCA, located at 418 N. Wayne St., Piqua. The classes are held on Mondays, Aug. 4 and 11, and Wednesdays, Aug. 6 and 13, from 6-9 p.m. The fee for the course is $20 for ages 21 and up, and $10 for ages 15-20. Scholarship assistance is available. YWCA membership is not required.

Register for the program by calling the YWCA Piqua at 937-773-6626, emailing [email protected], or at www.piqua.myrec.com .
