PIQUA — The City of Piqua has temporarily closed the restrooms at Lock 9 Park after they were heavily vandalized earlier this week. Damage was reported to water faucets, soap dispensers, baby changing stations, and trash cans in both facilities. Those allegedly responsible are now facing felony charges.

City officials say repairs and replacements will be necessary before the restrooms can reopen. This is the latest in a string of costly incidents — the city has already spent nearly $8,500 in 2025 addressing intentional damage to fence panels, picnic tables, door handles, basketball hoops, electrical lines, and hand dryers throughout the park system.

City staff are asking for the community’s help in preserving local parks. “Please keep an eye out for suspicious activity and remember that all city parks close at dusk,” officials said.

The Piqua Police Department urges anyone who witnesses or has information about a crime to come forward. Reports can be made anonymously.
