
Piqua, OH – Power has been restored to approximately 1,250 Piqua residents following an outage caused by an accident involving a tractor-trailer on Sunday evening.
According to Piqua Power System officials, the outage began around 7:20 p.m. after a tractor-trailer struck an electric pole on Country Club Road, near Substation 5. The impact disrupted electrical service to a significant portion of the city.
Crews from Piqua Power Supply responded quickly, working to assess and repair the damage. Power was fully restored by 8:25 p.m.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, a Canadian national, is facing six charges in connection with the incident. The charges include Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI), hit and skip, and reckless operation, among others.
No injuries were reported, but the collision caused significant damage to electrical infrastructure and temporarily left hundreds of customers without power.
Piqua Power System thanked residents for their patience and praised the swift response of utility crews in restoring service safely and efficiently. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
