Piqua, OH – The Piqua Police Department will join law enforcement agencies across the country in participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 26. The event offers community members a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unwanted or expired prescription medications.

An officer will be on site to accept pill medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the rear parking lot of the Piqua Municipal Government Complex, located at 201 W. Water Street.

The initiative aims to address public safety and health concerns related to unused prescription drugs. Medications left unused in homes can pose a risk of accidental poisoning, misuse, or overdose. Proper disposal also prevents pharmaceuticals from entering the water supply and harming the environment.

The service is free and anonymous. Only pill medications will be accepted—liquids, needles, or sharps will not be collected. All medications gathered during the event will be destroyed in an environmentally responsible manner.
