Mark D. Kiser, 71, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Hospice of Miami County. He was born July 1, 1954 in Piqua to the late Fond D. and Wanda J. (Houseman) Kiser.
Survivors include a sister, Connie (Steve) Wills of Piqua; two brothers, Mike (Sharon) Kiser of Piqua, Fond (Jan) Kiser, III of St. Augustine, Florida; his longtime girlfriend, Sally Straehla of Piqua; three nephews, Sean (Jenny) Kiser, Rick (Tara) Kennett, Terrence Groves; three nieces, Michale Kiser Lind, Tracy (John) Tulanko, Kristi (Jon Wheelock) Kiser Comstock; as well as many great nieces, nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Mark was a 1972 graduate of Piqua Central High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s of Science from Wright State University. He also attended the International School of Broadcasting and enjoyed a brief career in broadcasting. He served with honor and dignity as a Deputy Sheriff for Miami County Sheriffs Department before joining the force with Darke County Sheriffs Department from which he retired. He will be remembered for his integrity and fairness in his duties. He treated others with the respect they deserved. He enjoyed fishing, canoeing, gardening, and playing golf. He was a talented musician and enjoyed playing his guitar and listening to music. Additionally, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working out in the gym. He was a frequent visitor to One More where he enjoyed spending time with his friends and sharing conversations as he enjoyed his coffee. He will be deeply missed.
A service to honor his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Keith A. Gebhart officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
