Johnny “John” Mack Moore, 83, of Piqua, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. He was born in Sondheimer, Louisiana on June 12, 1942, to the late Elijah Hayward and Dorthy Almira (Wynn) Moore. On July 16, 1966, at Springcreek Baptist Church, he married Nancy Jean (Bodey) Moore, and she preceded him in death on April 26, 2019.
John is also survived by one son and daughter in law: Johnny “JJ” Mack (Barbara) Moore Jr of Piqua; three brothers and sisters in law: Donald (Doris) Moore of Piqua; Robert Moore of Piqua; and Rickie Moore of Troy. He is survived by one grandchild, Collin Mackenzie Moore of Cincinnati. John was preceded in death by two brothers: Ernest and Randolph and two sisters: Dorothy and Janie.
John worked in manufacturing throughout his life and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. He was an active member of the Troy Fish and Game, Newport Sportsman Club, American Legion Post #185, and Covington Amvets Post #66. He enjoyed horseshoe pitching, trapshooting, and being outdoors (fishing, hunting and mushroom hunting). He was also an active coach during baseball season for many years.
Funeral services for John will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 23, 2025, at House on the Rock Fellowship with Pastor Paul Hickernell officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Fletcher Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at House on the Rock Fellowship.
