TROY, Ohio — Authorities recovered the body of an adult male from the Great Miami River on Tuesday morning, June 10, 2025. The Miami County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Troy Fire Department, made the recovery around 9:46 a.m. near the Eldean Road bridge.

According to officials, the discovery may be linked to an earlier report received by the Troy Police Department at 6:21 a.m., in which a caller expressed concern over a despondent man who had left his dog with a family member, suggesting he may have been contemplating self-harm.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man’s death was the result of a self-inflicted injury. The Miami County Coroner’s Office transported the remains to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. The case remains under active investigation.

Drones from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Troy Police Department, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol were deployed during the search efforts.

Authorities remind residents that help is always available. Anyone struggling with mental health issues or in need of support is urged to contact the Tri-County Crisis Hotline at 1-800-351-7347 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, both available 24/7.
