Miami County, OH — May 20, 2025
Drivers in Miami County can expect to see an increased law enforcement presence on the roads this Memorial Day weekend as the Miami County Sheriff’s Office joins more than 900 agencies across Ohio for a statewide traffic enforcement initiative.
The campaign, which is part of the national “Click It or Ticket” program, runs through Memorial Day and concludes on May 26. Deputies will be out in greater numbers, with additional patrols focused on enforcing seat belt use and cracking down on dangerous driving behaviors, including speeding, stop sign violations, and impaired driving.
Sheriff Dave Duchak said the enhanced enforcement is aimed at reducing crashes and saving lives as the summer travel season gets underway.
“These extra patrols are a reminder that seat belts save lives, and traffic laws are in place to protect everyone on the road,” said Duchak. “We urge all drivers to buckle up and drive sober.”
The increased enforcement is funded by a grant from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office, which covers personnel costs and some fuel expenses through federal highway safety funds.
