PIQUA – This week marks a big change for trash and recycling collection in Piqua as Rumpke Waste & Recycling begins replacing old City of Piqua-branded carts with new ones. The cart swap will happen on your regular collection day, so residents are reminded to place their current trash and recycling carts at the curb starting Monday, May 12.

Rumpke will empty your current carts, then remove them from the curb. You can either place them out early in the week and begin filling them as usual, or wait and set them out the night before your scheduled pickup day. The key is to make sure they’re at the curb in time, so you don’t miss the swap.

New carts will be delivered a couple of days before your pickup, depending on your collection schedule:

Monday pickup: New carts delivered Saturday, May 10, old carts removed Monday, May 12

Tuesday pickup: Delivery on Monday, May 12, removal on Tuesday, May 13

Wednesday pickup: Delivery on Tuesday, May 13, removal on Wednesday, May 14

Thursday pickup: Delivery on Wednesday, May 14, removal on Thursday, May 15

Friday pickup: Delivery on Thursday, May 15, removal on Friday, May 16

Each household will receive a 95-gallon brown trash cart and a 95-gallon green recycling cart, unless they requested a different size through Rumpke’s customer service.

If you have any questions about your new carts, collection schedule, or service options, you can reach out to Rumpke Waste & Recycling at 1-800-828-8171. More information about the city’s partnership with Rumpke is also available on the City of Piqua’s Sanitation webpage.
