PIQUA — The Piqua Police Department is participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Drug Take Back Day today, Saturday, April 26. Residents are encouraged to safely dispose of their unused or expired prescription medications during the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the rear parking lot of the Municipal Government Complex, located at 201 W. Water St., Piqua.
An officer will be on hand to collect pill medications for proper disposal. The service is free and anonymous — no questions asked. Organizers emphasize that only pills will be accepted; no liquids or sharps (such as needles) can be dropped off.
Keeping unused or expired medications can pose serious risks to public safety, including accidental poisonings, misuse, and environmental harm if improperly disposed of. By participating in Take Back Day, community members can help protect their families, neighbors, and the environment.
All medications collected will be destroyed in an environmentally safe manner.
For those unable to attend today’s event, a permanent red dropbox is available inside the doorway of the Municipal Government Complex. It is accessible 24 hours a day for year-round convenience.
Take this opportunity to clear out your medicine cabinets safely and easily — and help make Piqua a safer place for everyone.
